Sophia Liao

Sophia Liao is a member of the firm's Financial Services practice. Based in Hong Kong, she specializes in a broad range of senior executive level searches with particular expertise in Global Banking, Private Equity (both for their principal and portfolio companies), as well as senior executive officer level searches (such as CEO/GM and CFO) across all major industry sectors within the region with a particular focus in China. Sophia's recent experience has included working with clients in sectors as diverse as education, logistics, technology, as well as more traditional industries such as FMCG, energy and industrials.

Previous Experience

Prior to joining Russell Reynolds Associates, Sophia was an Executive Director with Morgan Stanley. During her investment banking career at Morgan Stanley and previously at Deutsche Bank, she specialized in cross-border M&A with a focus on the energy and utilities, and general industrial sectors. Sophia started her career in London and has been based in Hong Kong since 2002. Sophia has worked with clients throughout the Asia Pacific region, and has spent extensive periods of time in China, Singapore and Australia.

Education

Sophia received her B.Sc. in Business Management from King's College, University of London and her M.Sc. in Economics and Finance from the University of Bristol. She speaks Mandarin and English.
