James Hickman

After 21 years with the firm in London, James Hickman recently relocated to India to take responsibility for running the firm's offices in New Delhi and Mumbai. Working closely with his Indian colleagues, he puts a wealth of experience of the most senior level search and assessment at the disposal of the firm's clients active in India. These clients include some of the largest and most well-known Indian companies as well as many of the world's major multinationals and investing institutions.

Recent Client Experience

Before relocating to India, James most recently ran the firm's Private Equity practice in Europe. Assignments within the world of private equity spanned a variety of roles in all types of funds, from start-ups and new entrants to established large buyout firms, as well as senior management roles in the portfolio businesses owned by his clients. The diverse nature of these portfolios allowed James to gain exposure to recruiting in a very wide range of sectors, from Industrial/Natural Resources to Consumer, and from Technology to Healthcare. Assignments were almost always complex and required extensive advisory input. James has also conducted in-depth executive assessments of entire private equity firms as well as of finalist candidates for searches. Before focusing on private equity, James consulted and recruited for many of the world's leading investment banks in London and across Europe.

Previous Experience

Before joining Russell Reynolds Associates in 1992, James spent four years working in corporate finance with Schroders in London. Earlier, he worked with Booz Allen Hamilton (now Booz & Co.) as a strategic management consultant, focusing on the financial services industry.

Education

James received his M.A. from Trinity College, University of Cambridge. He is fluent in French and German.
