Insurance Executive Moves | Q4 2023

AMERICAS

AIG 

• Rose Marie Glazer, currently Interim General Counsel, will take on the role in a permanent capacity. She was previously Chief Human Resources Officer and will continue this mandate on an interim basis until a successor is found.

• Roshan Navagamuwa assumes the position as Chief Information Officer, effective January 1, 2024, succeeding John Repko. Navagamuwa brings expertise from CVS Health, where he held the same position. Repko, stepping down to retire, will serve as Senior Advisor.

AXIS  

• AXIS Capital announced that it has appointed Stan Galanski to the Company’s Board of Directors.

• Following the retirement of Noreen McMullan as Chief People Officer, Lisa Pariot will become Chief People Officer on January 1, 2024.

• AXIS Wholesale CEO Carlton Maner has also retired by end of 2023. A successor is yet to be named.

• AXIS names Cliff Gallant Head of Investor Relations and Corporate Development. Cliff Gallant joins from Hippo Insurance and will report to AXIS Chief Financial Officer Peter Vogt.

• John Owen has been appointed CEO of AXIS Managing Agency Limited, the managing agent arm of AXIS Capital that oversees the group's Lloyd's of London operation including Syndicate 1686.

Chubb 

• Federico Spagnoli joins Chubb as Division President for Consumer Lines. Previously he was CEO Officer of Fully Ecosystem at Prudential Financial.

• Ben McGregor has been promoted to the role of Head of Property, APAC & Japan General Insurance at Chubb. 

• Combined Insurance, a Chubb company has appointed Michelle Bryer as Chief Operating Officer. 

Everest  

• Mark Julian takes on the role of Chief Actuary at Everest Insurance. His most recent prior role was Chief Pricing Actuary at Axis Re.

• Patrick Hagerty assumes the role of SVP and Head of U.S. Retail Property at Everest Insurance. He most recently served Everest as Chief Underwriting Officer for U.S. Property.

• Glen Browne becomes Global Head of Accident and Health for Everest Group. He previously served as Head of International Corporate Strategy at Everest Insurance.

Great West Life Co

• Douglas Tkach is appointed SVP & Chief Internal Auditor for Great West Life Co. He succeeds Devla Tomlin, who became Chief Risk Officer earlier in 2023.

Hanover Insurance Group

• Stephen Marohn assumes the role of President of Specialty Property and Casualty at The Hanover Insurance Group. He comes from CNA Insurance, where he was SVP Small Business.

The Hartford

• Stephen Deane has been appointed as the new Chief Claims Officer at The Hartford, replacing Mary Nasenbenny, who will retire. Deane previously held the role of EVP and Chief Claims Officer at Liberty Mutual Insurance. 

Indigo

• Brian York joins Indigo, a medical professional liability insurance provider, as Chief Underwriting Officer. He most recently served Coverys, as VP of Underwriting.

Lincoln

• Tina Madon has been appointed as Head of Investor Relations. She previously held the position of SVP, Head of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications at Focus Financial Partners.

Markel

• Bob Cox, President & Chief Operating Officer of Markel, will leave his role after 5 years, prompting an organisational shift. As such, Alex Martin, currently Chief Financial Officer, will become President of Markel Specialty. Brian Costanzo, currently Chief Accounting Officer, will assume the role of Chief Financial Officer.

• Ryan Oosterheert is named Chief Operating Officer for Markel Specialty, and Bryan Sanders, President of Markel Specialty, will transition to the role of Chairman.

• Guenter Kryszon is appointed Chief Underwriting Officer for Markel Specialty.

Marsh

• Pat Tomlinson has been appointed as the President of Mercer. He will continue in his current roles as CEO of Marsh McLennan US and Canada and President of Mercer US and Canada in the near term. After Martine Ferland's retirement, Tomlinson will succeed her as President and CEO of Mercer and Vice Chair of Marsh McLennan. 

• Susan Potter transitions to Marsh McLennan as US and Canada Commercial Officer from her prior role as Chief Commercial Officer at Mercer.

New York Life Co

• New York Life has hired Don Vu as the SVP and Chief Data and Analytics Officer. Previous positions of Vu include Chief Data Officer at Northwestern Mutual, and VP roles at WeWork and Major League Baseball. 

Selective Insurance Group

• Mark Wilcox, Chief Financial Officer of Selective Insurance Group, Inc., has resigned to become Chief Financial Officer at Ascot Group. Anthony Harnett (currently Chief Accounting Officer) will serve as Interim Chief Financial Officer until a permanent successor is appointed.

Truist Financial

• Truist Financial welcomes Scott Stengel as the new Chief Legal Officer, succeeding Ellen M. Fitzsimmons. He was most recently General Counsel of Ally Financial.
