Insurance Executive Moves | Q3 2024

APAC 

Dai-chi Life

• Dominique Roudaut joins Dai-ichi Life, as Senior EVP, Head of Innovation Lab, from MS&AD, where he was Head of Innovation.

• Fiona Macgregor has been appointed Group CEO and Managing Director of TAL, a subsidiary of Dai-Chi Life, effective October, succeeding Brett Clark.

FWD Group

• Andreas Hoffmann will leave his role of Chief Investment Officer. A successor is yet to be named.

Great Eastern

• Great Eastern has appointed Greg Hingston as its new Group CEO. Hingston joins from HSBC where he most recently served as CEO HSBC Global Insurance and Partnerships. Hingston will assume the role in November and succeeds current CEO Khor Hock Seng, who is set to retire.

MSIG

• Klaus M. Przybyla will be appointed as the future CEO of merged entity MSAISE as of October. His successor as CEO of MSIG EU will be Alexander Mahnke, currently Chief Commercial Officer.

Ping An

• Michael Guo and Fu Xin have been appointed as Executive Directors of Ping An Insurance. Guo also serves as a Non-Executive Director at Ping An Life and Ping An Property & Casualty.

Prudential

• Angel Ng, previously with Citi, has assumed the position of Regional CEO, Greater China, Customer and Wealth. A member of the Group Executive Committee, she is reporting to CEO Anil Wadhwani.

• Lilian Ng, Managing Director, Strategic Business Group and part of the Group Executive Committee, has decided to retire at the end of 2025 after a 30-year tenure with the company.

• Pankaj Banerjee has been appointed as Group Chief Agency Officer, reporting to Lilian Ng, Managing Director, Strategic Business Group.

QBE

• RRA missed to report in Q2 that Julie Minor has been appointed Group Head of Distribution at QBE Insurance, joining from Marsh.

Sompo

• Thomas Leone has been appointed Chief Investment Officer at Sompo, effective October. Previously, he was Chief Investment Officer at PartnerRe. Leone will report to CFO Nick Burnet and succeed Mark Silverstein, who is retiring and will now lead Sompo’s philanthropic efforts.

Suncorp

• Fiona Thompson, Group Executive People, Culture, and Advocacy, will depart Suncorp later this year after a 23-year tenure, including senior roles such as Chief Risk Officer.

• Belinda Speirs has been appointed Chief Executive People, Legal, and Corporate Services at Suncorp Group, a newly created role.

EMEA

Achmea

• Antonio Cano has been appointed as a member of the Supervisory Board of Achmea B.V.

Aegon

• Aegon has appointed Michele Bareggi as Chief Strategy, Transformation & Growth Officer, with his role set to commence in November. He will also join the company’s Executive Committee taking over from Duncan Russell, who has transitioned to the position of CFO.

• Shawn Johnson has been appointed as the new CEO of Aegon Asset Management and member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Johnson succeeds Bas NieuweWeme, who has decided to leave to pursue career opportunities outside of Aegon.

Aon

• Admiral James Stavridis has been appointed to Aon’s Board of Directors. A former member of the United States Navy, Admiral Stavridis is Partner and Vice Chair Global Affairs at Carlyle.

• Paul Davies has decided to retire as Vice Chair of Aon after thirty-six years at the firm.

• Mona Barnes has been appointed Global Chief Claims Officer at Aon. She joined Aon in 2023, previously leading Swiss Re Group’s Global Key Case and Large Loss Management team.

AXA 

• Guillaume Lejeune has been appointed Group Head of Claims at AXA, moving from his previous role as Head of Ceded Reinsurance.

• Guy Van Hecke, who is currently Head of Ceded Reinsurance at AXA XL, will succeed Guillaume Lejeune as Head of Ceded Reinsurance for AXA.

Equitable

• Kurt Meyers has been promoted to Head of Life Insurance at Equitable and a member of the company’s Operating Committee. He previously served as Deputy General Counsel at Equitable.

Generali

• Cécile Paillard has been appointed Group Chief Transformation Officer at Generali, joining from her role as CEO Mediterranean, Middle East & Africa at Coface Group. 

Helvetia

• Esther Roman has assumed the position of Group CHRO and member of the Group Executive Board of Helvetia Insurance. She joins from Mibelle Group.

• Bernhard Kaufmann becomes Group CRO and member of the Group Executive Board. He joins from NN Group where he was with the same capacity. He will take up the new role in November.

• Juan Estallo has been appointed CEO Spain at Helvetia Insurance. He was previously CEO of Liberty Seguros Europe. Juan Estallo joined the Group Executive Committee with Spain becoming a separate segment at Helvetia.

• Sandra Hürlimann will become Group Chief Technology Officer and member of the Group Executive Committee of Helvetia. She was previously Head of Analytics & Group Solutions.

• Thomas Neusiedler will lead the new GIAM (German, Italian, and Austrian Markets) segment at Helvetia, while continuing as CEO of Helvetia Austria. He joins the Group Executive Committee.

Hiscox

• RRA missed to report in Q2 that Mary Boyd has been appointed CEO of Hiscox USA, succeeding Kevin Kerridge, who is stepping down after nearly 30 years with the company.

Mapfre

• Mapfre has appointed Leire Jiménez as the new Group Chief Innovation Officer, a position she will hold concurrently with her role as CEO of MAWDY.

NN Group

• Wilbert Ouburg, currently CRO of NN Life and Pensions, will be appointed as CEO and Management Board member of NN Group effective October. He succeeds Bernhard Kaufmann, who joins Helvetia Group as CRO.

SCOR

• SCOR names HDI’s Claire McDonald as CEO of Business Solutions, the firm’s corporate risks insurance unit which was previously known as SCOR Specialty Insurance. She joins from HDI Global SE and takes over from Romain Launay, who is leaving SCOR. 

• Sofia Kyriakopoulou has been appointed Chief Data & Analytics Officer at SCOR, joining from Swiss Re, where she was Head Data & Analytics Reinsurance, Group Digital & Technology.

Swiss Re

• Anders Malmström will become Group CFO as John Dacey retires in 2025. He joins from Athora.

Willis Towers Watson

• WTW has appointed Lucy Clarke as President of Risk & Broking. She joins from Marsh, where she was President of Marsh Specialty and Global Placement.

• Adam Garrard – previously President of Risk & Broking for WTW, assumes the role of Chairman.

• WTW has appointed of Eric Latalladi as Global Head of Technology. He joins from MetLife.
