Philip Bacher works with public and private clients in building effective boards and management teams, advising on governance effectiveness, leadership development, strategic transformation, and growth.
Based In Munich, Philip works across multiple industries with a focus on industrial, energy, and technology companies, and financial services. Besides general management, he focuses on business strategy and development as well as governance, sustainability, compliance, and other corporate function challenges. He is passionate about tomorrow’s strategic business challenges and the leadership required to address these effectively.
His recent work has included board effectiveness and development assignments for a major European bank and a leading industrial and consumer technology company as well as a group governance review for a large family-owned waste and recycling group. He has also advised private equity-owned and listed companies on non-executive director and advisor appointments e.g. for a major renewable energy technology company in IPO preparation, an aviation technology service company, or a sustainability-oriented energy service provider. He has also supported CEO and C-level successions for technology corporations and energy infrastructure investors. He is a member of the firm's Board and CEO Advisory Partners in Europe.
Philip joined RRA from the private equity industry, where he was a partner and board member. Prior to that, he worked with corporates and private equity firms as a strategy consulting partner and interim director at AlixPartners and McKinsey & Company for over 10 years. He focused on corporate and portfolio value creation, business transformation, governance, and ESG. Earlier in his career, he was an associate partner in the corporate law firm Gleiss Lutz, with a client base ranging from multinational corporates and financial institutions to mid-market champions held or being built by private equity. Philip is also an expert author and conference speaker on topics of governance and transformation.
